ARTIST STATEMENT Of JANET McINTYRE
Most of my camera experience has been with a manual Minolta XD11. Recently I acquired a Canon Digital SLR . It has been a gift to discover the miraculous world of macro photography! It continues to change my perception of nature and even my way of perceiving myself in the universe. Subjects of particular interest are damselflies, sundews, bog cranberry and water lilies which inhabit marshlands. As an avid paddler, I am forever seeking new lakes and ponds. I mostly photograph from my kayak which provides inspiring perspective for landscapes and reflections on water. The logs that border marshes are most rich with macro life and my elbow wedged into one, serves as an excellent tripod.
As a world traveller, my life has been most profoundly effected by several years spent in Asia, intensely studying Buddhism. My photo imagery is often described as painterly and peaceful in effect.
