PHOTO ART of JANET McINTYRE
ARTIST STATEMENT
My first experience with a camera was using film in a Minolta XD11 SLR. What a tremendous gift it was to discover the miraculous world of macro photography! It continues to change my perception of nature and even the way of perceiving myself in the universe. Subjects of particular interest are damselflies, sundews and bog cranberry which inhabit fens and marshes. As an avid paddler, I am forever seeking new lakes and ponds. I mostly photograph from my kayak which is also inspiring for landscapes and reflections on water. The logs that border marshes are most rich with macro life and my elbow wedged into one, serves as an excellent tripod.
As a world traveller, my life view has been profoundly influenced by several years spent in Asia, intensely studying Buddhism. My photo imagery is imbued with a deeply-felt reverence for nature and has been described as painterly and peaceful in effect.
